AI Governance Board Simulation

For NHS board members · about 15 minutes

Practise leading your board through an AI safety crisis

You play an executive director at a fictional NHS trust. An AI tool that helps triage patients in A&E has run into problems, and the board must respond. In three short acts you find out what went wrong, check whether the paperwork stands up, and decide what to do next.

Listen first. The Next button appears when Eleanor has finished (about one minute).

All characters and the trust are fictional.

Hello, and welcome. I'm Eleanor Shaw from Edvance Technologies, and I'll be your guide. This is a practice simulation for NHS board members about the safe use of artificial intelligence. Here's how it works. You'll play an executive director on the board of a fictional NHS trust. An AI tool that helps triage patients in A and E has run into problems, and the board has to respond. In about fifteen minutes, you'll read a message, review a document and decide what to do, in three short acts. You can answer each question by speaking or by typing. After every answer, I'll give you private feedback, and at the end you'll get a personal report by email. Nobody else sees your answers. When you're ready, click Next to enter the simulation, and enter the access code you were provided to start the simulation.

How it works

  • Listen to Eleanor, your facilitator, and the people in the story. Captions are always on.
  • Answer each question by speaking or typing, as you would in a board meeting.
  • Get private feedback after every answer. Nobody else sees your responses.
  • Finish with a personal report, sent by email.

Voice is on. Narration and character voices will play with captions.
